Florida Living

We believe in conservation of wild habitats and preserving wildlife which is important to the state of Florida. We enjoy all the animals and birds here in Florida. Whether it’s swimming with the dolphins or manatees, boating and fishing in the sun, or just enjoying the great weather and free people, there’s something for everyone here in Florida.

I moved here over 10 years ago and I’m happy I did. I have transitioned from New York living to home growing food and herbs here in Florida. People I know said it was impossible to have a garden here but I was determined and persistence pays off. Here, the growing season is actually year round whereas in Upstate NY it’s once a year with a short window, so once you get the hang of it the veggies, herbs and flowers grow like crazy!

We have our own hens and a rooster for fresh free grazed eggs everyday and 3 beautiful guard geese that are very protective.

Bees ‘n Honey

Having said all of this, I love bees, honey and beeswax. I’m a bit of a bee whisperer in that I have no fear of them. When my daughter was a toddler, she brought me a handful of bees she had been holding in her hand for quite some time, and they never stung her. She opened her hand showed me the bees and I said, “Oh my God are you okay? Don’t hold on too tight.” She said I’m not, closed her hand and walked away. I was quite amazed by that and that is really when I realized we have it in us to be one with bees.

The fear of bees, I believe is taught to us and is an irrational fear. Bees for the most part, are not buzzing around to sting you, but rather here to help feed you and other animals. Bees create honey, pollinate our greenery, vegetables and flowers. Without bees we frankly could not grow food without some tricky manual pollination techniques that are very time consuming.

Whenever possible we source everything we use locally. We source our honey and beeswax locally from a bee farm here in Florida. It helps the farmer, helps the bees and provides a safe, long lasting alternative to paraffin for our candles and balms. (currently restocking our beeswax balms and candles)

Make the Switch to Natural

I have always suffered from allergies. Allergies are supposed to improve over time, but that never happened for me. After years of using toxic cleansers, eating toxic food and working in toxic environments I made the switch to natural. I work for myself and have worked independently for over a decade. I make my own cleansing products and healing balms. If I can’t make my own due to scheduling, etc., I will source it from someone who is making it in a wholesome, healthy way. I am a stickler about this which is why I decided to offer handmade soaps and candles made from beeswax and soy, hand poured concrete vessels and skin nurturing balms. Every effort is made to use reputable companies that provide organic, pesticide free, non-GMO products.

When I had my outpatient clinic, I treated a lot of breast cancer survivors and patients with swelling from a variety of illnesses. I made a beeswax balm out of necessity and divine inspiration, that has olive oil, beeswax, comfrey and essential oils. That was a mainstay in my clinic since 2018. My pre and post surgical patients with skin problems, scars and swelling, absolutely loved it and I couldn’t make enough of it.
